A NOTE FROM STUART WHITE - PACIFIC'S NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR

I am thrilled to be on board as the new MD, and heading up a great team at Pacific.
Grant Burley has moved into the position of Non Executive Chairman, and in that capacity he will still be involved in strategic business development activities, however the day to day running of the business, is now well and truly over to me!
2008 is shaping up as a year of change and challenge in the Premium Funding industry. We need to continue to evolve as a business in order to stay ahead of the dynamic market and current economic environment.
Our focus will be on working closely with you and consistently driving to improve your experience with the team here at Pacific.
I enjoyed meeting many of you during the first eight weeks in my new role and I look forward to meeting more of you in the coming months. I would like to thank you for your ongoing support.
All the best,

FIRST CONFERENCE AIMS HIGH
The AIMS national conference was held at the Venetian Resort, Macau in late February. Macau provided a stunning backdrop for the first combined conference of the Austbrokers and IBNA joint venture
Pacific sponsored canapés and cocktails at the top of the Macau Tower. Seven lucky guests won the ultimate, experience of taking the ‘Sky Walk’ where they took a stroll around the outer rim that encircles the tower…did we mention the walkway is just 1.8 metres wide and 233 metres in the air and THERE’S NO HANDRAIL.
After a somewhat apprehensive start the Sky Walkers really got into it. Apparently it’s not as scary as it looks, so much so that Pacific MD, Stuart White took things even further the next day, returning to bungee jump from the tower.
Congratulations to the winners:
Norma Giacobbe - Midland Insurance Brokers
Brian Salisbury - Salisbury Payne & Tinslay
Peter Chan – Tucker & McNeil
Robert Townsend –Austbrokers Coast to Coast
John Brownlee – John Bernard & Assoc
Ian Burgess – Scott & Broad Clark Pacific
Johanna Louwen – Vaughan & Monaghan
Right – Our seven winners join Pacific MD Stuart White

10th STEADFAST CONVENTION HEATS UP
Pacific was a Gold Sponsor at the recent Steadfast Convention in Adelaide from 8 – 11 March. The convention was a huge success with 1424 delegates attending, confirming that this was their best convention yet
On Monday, the Pacific staff headed out to the Adelaide Hills, taking 160 supporting brokers to a relaxed lunch and an afternoon of jazz at Longview Vineyard. Despite the record heatwave Adelaide was experiencing, a few keen guests even got up for a bit of a boogie.
At the Pacific stand competition was fierce in our Nintendo Wii bowling game, which was won by Andrew Ball from Shortland Insurance brokers who received an Apple I-Touch!
AAIB CONFERENCE HEADS TO BALLARAT
The Australasian Association of Insurance Brokers Inc (formerly RIBA) recently held their annual conference at Ballarat Lodge in Victoria, from 18 -20 April. Pacific was one of the exhibitors and 135 members attended what turned out to be their largest conference yet.
Congratulations to Gwen Ford of Ford Kinter who won our exhibitors prize.
QUEENSLAND’S CQIB CONVENTION SHINES
The 16th Annual Convention of CQIB (Council of Qld Insurance Brokers) was held at the Royal Pines Resort, Gold Coast from 2-5 May.
Representatives of over 50 Queensland brokerages were in attendance and this yearsconvention theme of "CONNECT AND SHINE" was filled with keynote speakers who were both educational and motivational. Overall, a record 400 delegates attended.
Pacific was once again proud to participate as a sponsor, with our experienced team of Zena Selim, Wayne Williams, Mark Holt and Jim McDonald on hand to attend to delegates’ premium funding enquiries throughout the convention.

AML/CTF
The Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act) is intended to minimise the opportunities to launder money or finance terrorism.
The Premium Funding industry is regulated by the AML/CTF Act and Pacific is implementing appropriate steps to meet the requirements of collecting and verifying certain client information, in order to confirm the identity of new borrowers (since 12 December 2007).
Pacific will seek to make each intermediary it’s agent for AML/CTF purposes, so that you can obtain information from your client. Pacific will of course be available to assist in gathering information direct from the client, with an intermediary’s permission.
We look forward to working closely with you to successfully address and comply with this important legislation. Your Account Manager will make contact shortly and provide more information including training guides.
Further details about the AML/CTF Act are available on the Attorney –General’s website www.ag.gov.au/aml or the AUSTRAC website www.austrac.gov.au
